ABOUT THE AUTHOR

Bill Rector has called the Salmon River Country home for the last 44 years. Thirty-One of those years have been spent with my loving wife Nancy. I have a daughter from a previous marriage and we raised her daughter and our son together. They are all gone and have started their own families.
Up to the time I graduated from high school I had lived with my mother and stepfathers in Idaho, Wyoming and Montana. During my last 3 years of high school I began working & living on ranches while going to school.
I spent approximately10 months in the jungles of Vietnam as an Infantry soldier. After returning from the tour and being discharged from Fitzsimmons Army Hospital in Aurora, CO I began my schooling. I attended and completed a Survey and Drafting College & an Automotive / Diesel College in Denver, CO.
Through the years, with the right arm missing, I have worked as a mechanic, ranch hand, foreman, and business owner. I've been honored to represent the state of Idaho in 1985 as Grand Marshal for the Veterans Day parade in North Miami, FL. I've been involved in the community as a Lemhi County Fairboard member, President of the Salmon Ridge Runners snowmobile club and member of Lodge 1620 of the Benevolent and Protective Elks for 39 years. I'm also a Life Member of the Disabled American Veterans organization.
I love competition and have competed as a Bareback Bronco rider in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) & the Washington Rodeo Association (WRA). I've been involved in snowmobile racing & hill climbing, along with ATV & motorcycle riding. At the present time I am a member of the Challis Golf Association, Western Amputee Golf Association (WAGA) and the National Golf Association (NAGA). I compete in the tournaments if my business schedule allows me. I also bowl on men's league at the local bowling alley, Challis Lanes.
As the years have went by I have learned to manage my time by gaining a positive attitude and creating the good habits that are needed to accomplish my goals, both personal & business.
